What is an evacuation chair?
An evacuation chair is an easy-to-use, compact, stable and safe means of helping disabled, vulnerable or incapacitated individuals to descend a flight of stairs more conveniently than would be possible with a standard wheelchair. They are stored in most multi-storey buildings, and particularly those with public access or where high numbers of staff work in offices.
